Project Description

Many stories for young children have incorporated the theme of pirates. The theme inspires action and planning of journeys on the sea, and has an element of adventure. However, the ship is primarily an enclosed stage that offers a variety of opportunities for pretend, constructive, and physical play. Young children will discover play counters and benches, lots of manipulative pieces like steering wheels, a megaphone, and binoculars, and physical features like the rope ladder, hammock, and slide. The Pirate Ship has an upstairs and a downstairs. Both feature enclosed areas for pretend play, while remaining open enough for adults to supervise. This play piece is a play magnet for young children, and can be found in playgrounds all over the world.
